Better breads ahead
Most bread proofing baskets (called "bannetons" in French or "brotforms" in German) are made of rattan or cane, but not these. These bread proofing baskets are handmade in Brooklyn from wood pulp, an absorbent material that happily takes your wettest doughs—and gives them a crispier crust. Consider your sourdough game raised.
- Absorbent material creates a crispier crust
- Resists sticking with high hydration doughs
- Perfect for two 1 kilogram loaves, or the yield of a typical sourdough bread recipe
- Sustainably sourced North American wood pulp
- Entirely biodegradable (no plastics or chemicals)
- Handmade in Brooklyn
- Made in: Brooklyn, NY
- Shipping & Returns: Free Standard Shipping on Orders $199+ ($14.99 on Orders Below $199) and Easy-Breezy Returns.
Yields two 1 kilogram boules, each approximately 9" in diameter.
Banneton itself measures 10.5" x 10.5" x 4"
- Materials:
Wood pulp, sourced in North America
- Care:
Before Use: Liberally dust the inside of your banneton with flour—that makes it stick resistant.
After Use: Dust away any excess flour or dough using a brush or kitchen towel. Do not wash your banneton in the sink or expose it to running water. (A dry banneton is a sturdy banneton!) Place your banneton in a well-ventilated area to dry between uses.
Other notes:
Do not place your banneton in the oven when baking bread.
To prevent mold, do not stack multiple bannetons before they’re dry.
Natural materials and handmade construction make each piece unique. Aesthetic imperfections will not affect the usability of the product.
