Our Five Two placemats are made to be used and enjoyed every single day. Simply toss them in the washing machine on a cool-to-warm setting with like colors, using non-chlorine bleach on tough stains. Tumble-dry low and remove promptly to avoid wrinkles. Warm iron if needed. Some shrinkage may occur.

I was totally psyched when I got these, and I LOVE the matching napkins, but these place mats look terrible after the first wash (I followed the washing instructions exactly).

I'm so bummed. They shrunk significantly (see photo) and had to be pulled back into shape.

I purchased assuming they would hold up to washing and come out of the dryer beautiful and ready to put on the table. I refuse to bring out an iron every time I wash them, but if I need them to look company ready, I will be forced to iron them and hope that helps.

Perhaps if they had been made in a rectangular shape? Not sure.


But definitely not a great product if you want an elegant look at your table. I'd like to return them or have them replaced with a better quality product, but they match the napkins. I wouldn't buy them again.

Fresh out of the package these are beautiful! The nice stitch detail, the texture and color.

Washed as instructed, cold water. Did not tumble dry, although label said to do so. They shrunk! So badly I tried to pull back into shape but no joy. More than an inch smaller on all sides and somewhat misshapen too. Sigh. I’ll keep using but unless you plan to dry clean them, I’d avoid.
Not the usual Food52 quality and wish I could return them.
